The Iron Throne from HBO’s Game of Thrones series has an awesome secret

GAME of Thrones fans, prepare for a geekgasm.
You’re all familiar with the Iron Throne. It’s the rather ominous-looking seat of power for the king of Westeros, and it’s made from hundreds of melted swords. Awesome, right?
But the Iron Throne has a secret. One that has remained under wraps for three entire seasons, which is more than can be said of Renly Baratheon’s sexuality.
The throne appears to contain a selection of famous movie swords, such as Glamdring, which is wielded by Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies.
THE GUY WHO PLAYS HODOR ALSO JUST REVEALED SOMETHING
Gandalf’s sword was first spotted by a keen-eyed fan of the show, who then posted about his discovery on Reddit.
That got everyone slobbering like hungry dragons, and they soon figured out that a sword slightly to the right of Glamdring belonged to the title character in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
Now, those swords could have been used by HBO’s props department because they just happened to be lying around. But we’d like to think the awesomeness was intentional. See more
